Ruth Nadine (Ashley) Palm

August 13, 1917 - May 20, 2010

Mrs. Ruth N. Palm, 92, of LaPorte, died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Brentwood Assisted Living in LaPorte.

She was born Aug. 13, 1917, in South Bend, IN, the daughter of Clarence and Ethel (Bestle) Ashley. Ruth had lived in the LaPorte area since 1939, coming from South Bend.

Ruth was a registered nurse and worked as a staff nurse at LaPorte Hospital for many years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and a former member of the Elks and Lionettes.

On Sept. 17, 1939, in South Bend, she married George Palm, who preceded her in death June 1, 2008. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Jean Collins; and one son, Richard Palm.

She is survived by her two sons, Alan (Lynn) Palm of Olathe, KS, and Robert (Karen) Palm of Henderson, KY; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Warren Ashley of South Bend; and one sister, Betty Slater of Yorba Linda, CA.

The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Monday, May 24, from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Meyer officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
