Patricia Ann (Woltman) Sobczak
Patricia Ann (Woltman) Sobczak, 92 years old, peacefully passed away on July 29, 2024 at The Acres in New Carlisle. Patricia was born on June 22, 1932 in South Bend to the late Henry and Kate (Zablocki) Woltman.
On May 30, 1955, Patricia married the love of her life, Richard E. Sobczak, who preceded her in death in 2005. Patricia is also preceded in death by her siblings, Henrietta Switalski, Evelyn Szewczyk, Jane Woltman, Alice Woltman, Hank Woltman, Harry Woltman, Richard Woltman, Donald Woltman, and Stan Woltman.
Left to cherish their memories, Patricia is survived by her children, Richard Sobczak, Jr, Ann Marie (Shawn Rafferty) Sobczak, and Mark Sobczak.
Patricia was a homemaker and mother until her children were in high school. She then worked at South Bend Country Club, she also worked for Woltman’s Grocery when she was younger. This was a family-owned business on Chapin St. She was very active at St. Hedwig Catholic Church. She was the past president of St. Hedwig Rosary Society, on the church cleaning ladies group, worked in the kitchen at the weekly bingo meeting, and ran the Rosary Society Cake booth at the Parish Festival. She was known for her “coin in the easter egg hunt” booth at the annual Palm Sunday Bake Sale, where the top prize was a “gold dollar”. She was also a member of the Legion 357 ladies auxiliary.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Acres for their care of Pat for the last 3 years- Susan, Winnie, Karmyn, Ellen, Jacquese, and Brenda.
Friends and family will be received from 10:00am-12:00pm Thursday, August 1, 2024 at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 331 S Scott St, South Bend, IN 46601. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following visitation at 12:00pm at church. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Donations in honor of Patricia Sobczak may be made out to St Hedwig parish. Online condolences can be made at sjfh.net.
