John L. Ingram, a son, brother, husband, father and respected community member, passed away at 10:10 am on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in Bell Tower. Born on September 19, 1943, in Geneva, AL, John's life was a testament to his strength and work ethic.
John's journey began as the beloved son of Eddie B. and Flora Bell (Lee) Ingram, who predeceased him. He grew up alongside his siblings, Barbara, Joyce Readon, Patricia Dixon, Marvin, Herbert H., and Edward, all of whom have passed before him. John's family life was further blessed by his marriage to Pamela Jean Ingram, who also preceded him in death, as did their son, Tyson Ingram.
Despite these profound losses, John's legacy continues through his son, Daymand Ingram, and his grandchildren, Jasmine, Tyree, Tatyanna, Tyran, and James, along with many great-grandchildren. His extended family includes a host of nieces and nephews, who will fondly remember their uncle.
John proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp Reserve, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism. His professional life was equally dedicated, as he worked as a heavy equipment operator and maintenance worker for the South Bend Street and Sewer Department for 22 years, retiring in 2005. His colleagues respected him for his reliability and expertise, and he was often sought after for his knowledge and skill.
Funeral services to honor the life of John L. Ingram will be held at 11 am on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Palmer Funeral Home - West Chapel, located at 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628 where family and friends are invited to gather beginning at 10 am. Following the service, John will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery, where he will join his beloved family members who have gone before him.
John's life was a beacon of hard work, love, and dedication. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories shared by those who knew him best. As we say farewell to John L. Ingram, we celebrate the indelible mark he left on this world and the countless lives he touched. His spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, just as it did throughout his remarkable life.
