Dr. Thomas Rafalski Killed In City Wreck

Dr. Thomas A. Rafalski, 48,' 3135 Shady Grove Court, a specialist in internal medicine and house physician at Clowes Memorial Hall, was killed early yesterday in a one-car accident on the city's Northwest side. Police said Dr. Rafalski's station wagon veered out of control and smashed against a utility pole and a tree in the 2800 block of West 30th Street. His car did not. hit a median strip as some had believed, police said. It is believed Dr. Rafalski was returning home from his office where a family spokesman said he was doing some paper work.

DR. RAFALSKI, an unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic nomination for Marion County coroner in 1964, was wearing a pajama shirt, trousers and bedroom slippers when the accident occurred, police said.

Dr. Rafalski was a graduate of Loyola University at Chicago and of the Indiana University School of Medicine. He served his internship in St. Francis Hospital at Peoria, IL, and split his residency between Chicago's West Side Veterans Administration Hospital and Marion County General Hospital here. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the medical staffs at St. Vincent, Methodist, Winona Memorial and Marion County General hospitals and at Indiana University Medical Center. He was an associate faculty member af the I.U. School of Medicine.

DR. RAFALSKI was a medical examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration and a staff physician for the Marion County Department of Public Welfare. lie was a member of the board of trustees for the Indiana Society of Internal Medicine. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in Stevens Chapel of the Flowers and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Michael Catholic Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Violet M. Rafalski; three sons, Marty, Mickey and Thomas A.Rafalski Jr., all at home; four daughters, the Misses Kalhee, Donna, Lisa and Theresa Rafalski, all at homo, and his mother, Mrs. Lucille Rafalski of Indianapolis
