Jean Alice (Sibley) Austill

Jean Austill, 88 formerly of Houston, Texas died peacefully in Scottsdale, Arizona on March 29, 2015 after a lengthy illness. She was born on November 13, 1926 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Gerald and Alice Sibley.
Jean was raised in South Bend, Indiana where she graduated from Central High School in 1944. Jean attended Purdue University and the University of Oklahoma for two years where she met her husband Claire Austill. They married on August 30, 1947 and shared a loving 50 year marriage until Claire passed away in 1998.
Jean and Claire moved frequently until they settled in Houston, Texas in 1970, where she resided until 2004. Jean was a member of the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Houston where she was active in the Altar Guild and the Hoe and Hope Garden Club. She served as a docent at the Heritage Society at Sam Houston Park for 20 years and was an active member of the Alexander Love Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, attending several national DAR events. Jean loved traveling and cruising and saw much of the world on her adventures.
Jean is survived by her four children, Karen Hazard (John), Mary, Mark (Cindi) and Mike; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A memorial and interment service will be held at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church at 12535 Perthshire Rd in Houston on April 24, 2015 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or another charity of your choice
