SOUTH BEND - Services for David L. Matthews, 63, of East Wayne Street South, who died at 9:40 a.m. Sunday of an apparent heart attack, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Gran Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., where a parish rosary will be said at 8:30 p.m.

Mr. Matthews initiated Corvilla dinners for homes for the handicapped, was a member of Toastmasters, and was a member of the church. He served as an officer in the Merchant Marines during World War II and also was an Army court reporter. He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and past president of Indiana Trial Lawyers Association.
