June Naomi (Houk) Edwards

SOUTH BEND - June N. Edwards, 91, of South Bend, IN, died Thursday, November 16, 2017, in Memorial Hospital, of natural causes. She was born on November 8, 1926 in South Bend to the late Naomi (Wolter) and Melville Houk. On October 10, 1948, she married Bernard E. Edwards, M.D., who died in 1995.

Surviving are daughters, Darla Lee of Phoenix, AZ and J Elise Edwards of Chicago; son, Bernard E. Edwards, Jr. of South Bend; and granddaughters, Danielle Jones of Des Moines, WA and Nicole Mellott of Surprise, AZ.

June was a lifelong community volunteer and patron of the arts.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation (AMDF) or the South Bend Museum of Art (SBMA). Cremation will take place according to her wishes at the Welsheimer Crematory.
