Joseph Aloysius Tomlinson

Joseph A. Tomlinson, 68, of Arlington Heights, Ill., formerly of South Bend, died at 1:20 p.m. Thursday in Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, after a brief illness.
He was a retired school teacher. After graduating from Indiana University, Bloomington, he taught there several years, and later taught at LaPaz, and Battell and Beiger schools in Mishawaka. He moved to Arlington Heights in 1950, where he taught and was assistant principal at the South Junior High School in Arlington, for 18 years.
He was born June 23, 1914, in South Bend, and lived here until 1950.
On April 2, 1938, in South Bend, he married Kathleen J. Whiteman, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Delene Tomlinson-Bonn of Palatine, Ill. and Mrs. Charlene Tomlinson-Melnik of Round Lake Beach, Ill.; and a sister, Mrs. Alberta Baker of Greensburg, Ind.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Hollis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., with Rev. Herbert Yost, C.S.C., associate pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today in Hollis-Palmer Funeral Home. He was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
