Helen Louise (Peltz) Steele

Helen Louise Steele, 77, of Meadowlark Lane, died at 5:33 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mrs. Steele was a department manager at the former Goldblatt's Department Store, Mishawaka, and a former employee of Hans-Rintzsch Luggage Shop.

She was born April 15, 1915, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On Sept. 5, 1936, in South Bend, as Helen Peltz, she married Earl K. Gustin. He died July 5, 1964. On Dec. 29, 1972, in South Bend, she married George W. Steele. He died Aug. 18, 1979.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Craig M. Gustin of Atlanta, a granddaughter, Cheryl Gustin of Indianapolis; a sister, Florence LeJeune of Bloomington, Ind.; and a brother, A. T. Peltz of South Bend.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, Mother Church of Boston Progress Club, and Over 60 Club of Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend.

Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
