James Walter Palm

James W. Palm, 94, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2009, in Rosewood Care Center. Born August 31, 1914, in LaPorte, Indiana, the son of Walter J. and Opal (Fisher) Palm.

He married Carolyn Grace Olson, on August 24, 1941, in Rockford.

Jim was a member of Bethesda Covenant Church. He worked as an administrator in the engineering department at Rockford Clutch and was granted six United States patents during his 41 years of service, retiring in 1979. He possessed a strong interest in anything mechanical and enjoyed the challenge of fixing anything that was broken.

Jim was a devoted family man while being an active member of a local investment club and Boy Scout Troop. Carolyn and Jim loved traveling and traveled extensively throughout all 50 states during their 66 year marriage. When traveling became difficult, they enjoyed winters at their Florida home. Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be warmly remembered and missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include: sons, Alan Palm and Dennis (Maryann) Palm; grandchildren, Kristie Palm, Joshua and Rebecca Palm.

Predeceased by: parents; wife, Carolyn on March 13, 2008; sisters, Marjorie Eveleigh and Kathryn McGloshen; brother, William Palm.
