Steven Summers nee Nyari
July 26, 1914 - July 1, 2005
Steven Summers, 90, was born on July 26, 1914, in South Bend, to Regina (Rustovich) and Stephen Nyari Summers.
He was the second of two boys; his brother Rudy died in 1996 and sister Olga died in 1940. His parents were owners of several popular Hungarian restaurants in South Bend. He married Clara Buwa on May 10, 1940. She also preceded him in death on March 9, 2005. This would have been their 65th year of marriage.
Steven was inducted into the United States Army on May 6, 1941. He served in both England and France until September 1945. Steven was a general supervisor at the Studebaker Corp. until its demise in 1963. He was an avid collector of steam engines and antique vehicles of all sorts.
He spent the last few years in California with his wife and daughter, Dr. Dorothy Summers of Newport Beach, who survives.
Memorial services will be conducted at a later date. Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Ave., is handling the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
