Lewis D. Mason

July 30, 1915- Feb. 28, 2005

Lewis D. Mason, 89, of Murfreesboro, TN, formerly of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Monday, February 28, after a brief illness. Lewis was born to Lee C. Mason II and Nina Mae Mason in South Bend, Indiana, on July 30, 1915.

He was married September 17, 1940, to Marilou Thomas of Logansport, Indiana. Marilou preceded Lewis in death in April 2003. A brother, John Mason, and a sister, Abigail Keller, also preceded him in death.

Lewis is survived by three sons, Thomas L. Mason of South Bend, Indiana, Lewis Ted Mason of Murfreesboro, TN, and Lee C. Mason III of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Marsha A. Ruszkowski of South Bend, IN; nine grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.

One grandchild, Bryan T. Mason, preceded him in death in July 1986.

Lewis lived most of his life in South Bend, Indiana. He attended Central High School in South Bend and Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Lewis was the owner and manager of Soft Water Services, Inc., in South Bend, Indiana, from 1941 until 1980 when he retired. His son, Thomas L. Mason, is presently the owner and manager of the company. Lewis was an Eagle Scout in the Boys Scouts of America.

He was also a member of the South Bend Country Club, the Rotary Club of South Bend, the International Water Quality Association, the Elks Club of South Bend, the Chamber of Commerce of St. Joseph County and the Indiana Club of South Bend. Private services will be held for the immediate family in South Bend, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to Live Hospice, 1710 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203
