SOUTH BEND - Theresa M. Giel, 78, of Diamond Avenue, died at 5:05 a.m. today in Regency Place. Mrs. Giel had been supervisor at South Bend 1 Credit Bureau from 1936 1948. She was born Feb. 3, 1915, in South Bend.

On May 17, 1947, in South Bend, as Theresa M. Kagel, she married Francis S. Giel. He survives with two daughters, Mary T. Eckerle of Marion, Ind., and Rita M. Reust of South Bend; two sons, Robert L. of Elkhart and Frederick G. of Pittsburgh; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Brothers of South Bend and Marie Steinhofer of South Bend; and a brother, Fred Kagel of South Bend.

She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where she served as Eucharistic minister and past president of its Rosary and Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella and Harvest House, and was past president of Holy Cross School PTA.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday Hickey Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road, where a rosary will at 7:30 p.m.
