SOUTH BEND Helen Marie Josephson. 79, of 228 N. Swanson Circle, died about 4:25 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Miss Josephson retired from South Bend Community School Corp. in 1981 as an elementary, school teacher at Jefferson school. She was also a professor at Saint Mary's College.

She was born March 1. 1915, in South Bend and was a lifelong resident. Miss Josephson was a of Evangelical Covenant Church of South Bend. Alumni Club of Saint Mary's College. Alumni Club of Indiana University, International House of Columbia University, Indiana State Teacher's Retirement Association. and St. Joseph County Teacher's Retirement Association.

She attended Wheaton College, received her bachelor's degree from Saint Mary's College and received her master's degree from Indiana University Bloomington. She also attended Columbia University for her doctoral studies.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be in City Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
