Eddie Jarrett nee Jaroszewski

"It don't mean a thing, if you ain't got that swing". The words from an old Duke Ellington song hit would be appropriate for the celebration of life and 85 years for the incomparable "Eddie Jarrett" Jaroszewski; South Bend's very own music man and avid golfer.
Had been president of the South Bend Federation of Musicians local 278 for 33 yrs; a member for 60 years. Had his own band and played at many country clubs and places in & around surrounding areas. He was gifted & had a vesatile talent of playing saxophone, clarinet and violin. His father taught him violin at the age of 4. He played with Harlon Hogan & toured nationally with the Harry James Band.
Eddie said "I enjoyed many breakfasts with Harry and his wife, the movie star Betty Grable" but Eddie's love was Pauline Meadows. They met while he was plaing at the South Bend Inn. They married in 1938 and lasted 50 years until Pauling passed away in May 1988.
He was an employee of Selmer Band Instruments of Elkhart for 26 years; taught clarinet and saxophone for many years. Services at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Surviving are his 4 children: MaryAnn Barren of Pinckney MI., Jim Jaroszewski of South Bend; Mrs. Marsha Ann DeFreeeuw of Granger, IN. and Mrs. Ann Buras of Palatine, IL.; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; an aunt, Mrs. Lillian Palicki and 3 nieces and 2 nephews.
