William "Jack" Hildebrand, 84, of E. Jennings Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 8:58 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, in St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka, Ind.

He was born on April 19, 1915, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Hildebrand retired in 1981 from the Bendix Corporation. He was a member of the Travelers Protective Association, and was a Free and Accepted Mason.

On Sept. 4, 1937, in South Bend, he married Florence Marie O'Blenis, who preceded him in death in 1993.

He is survived by three sons, Jerry (Peggy) Hildebrand of Richmond, Va., Craig (Patricia) Hildebrand of Wyandotte, Mich., and Robert (Denise) Hildebrand of South Bend; four grandchildren, Staci (Troy) Conley of Mishawaka, Christine Hildebrand, Robert K. Hildebrand, Jr., and Jerry Hildebrand, all of South Bend; two great-grandchildren, Anthony Macri and Corinne Conley, both of Mishawaka; two brothers, Ted (Betty) Hildebrand and Robert (Helen) Hildebrand, both of South Bend; and Jack's dear friend, Joy Meier of Midland, Mich.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 1827 E. Ireland Road.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home, with burial to follow in Highland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
