Mary Katherine Bradley, 89, of North Frances Street, departed this life at 5:45 a.m.Thursday, April 29, in the Saint Joseph Care Center West. Mrs.Bradley was born on Jan.1, 1915, in Paris, Ill., to Jay Hue and Maude (Holmes) Dunson, who have both preceded her in death. Mary moved to South Bend, Ind., with her family at the age of three.

She was educated in South Bend public schools, graduating from South Bend Central High in 1933. She looked forward to the Class of 33 reunions and luncheons. On April 1, 1937, she married Frederick Arthur Bradley, who survives. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will truly be missed but never forgotten.Mary was happiest when surrounded by family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker and did domestic work for a number of years.She was a longtime member of Zion United Church of Christ.She was active in the church’s Young at Heart Group and loved working with the church’s Salad Bar Group as long as she was able.

Left to cherish her loving memory along with her husband are two daughters, Patricia Bradley-Williams of South Bend and Katherine B. Wright of Chicago, Ill.; two sons, Dennis A. Bradley of Chicago and Neil A. (Jacqueline) Bradley of Detroit, Mich.; 14 grandchildren, Veronica D. Williams, W. LaMar Williams, Garrick (Vanessa) Bradley, Arthur (Trina) Wright, Jeffrey (Jackie) Small, Michael (Loretta) Bradley, Tracey Bradley, Agnes (Toby) Wilson, Nancy (Daniel) Love, Kayla (Lanell) Brown, Geoffrey (Gerisha) Toler, Maisha (Ronald) Humphrey, Theresa Bradley and Robert “Robbie”Kirk; 35 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Delores (Clifton) Bullard of New York, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Lucille Dunson of South Bend; a daughter- in-law, Linda Bradley of Las Vegas, Nev.; a special cousin, Colleen Reed; a foster daughter, Mary Patricia Austin of South Bend; and two special friends, Helen Howard and Peggy Harris of South Bend.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth A. Bradley; a daughter, Arlene Kirk; two grandchildren, Travis Bradley and Kamilah Kirk; two brothers, Hue Wilbert Dunson and William T. Anderson; and four sisters, Harriet Anderson, Christine McCullough, Edith Blanton and Maud Frances Ferguson; and by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 5, in Zion United Church of Christ, located at 715 E.Wayne St., South Bend, where friends will be received one hour prior to services.Private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Zion United Church of Christ.
