Lorraine E. (Cunningham) Stemnock

March 20, 1915 – Jan. 8, 2004

Lorraine E. Stemnock, 88, formerly of Lilac Road in South Bend, Ind., passed away at 2:53 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, in Alterra Sterling House of South Bend. She was born on March 20, 1915, to the late James and Evelyn (Haun) Cunningham in Dubuque, Iowa.

Mrs.Stemnock was retired from Indiana Bell Telephone, where she served as an assistant chief operator for 38 years.

On Nov. 23, 1946, as Lorraine E. Cunningham, she married Stanley J. Stemnock in South Bend. He died on July 19, 1993.

She is survived by one sister, Lois Pustay of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Ralph B. (Joan) Cunningham of South Bend; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. 

Mrs. Stemnock was a member of Corpus Christi Parish, Telephone Pioneers, and The South Bend Regional Museum of Art.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. today, Jan. 10, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with Rev. Camillo Tirabassi officiating. There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place with interment at Highland Cemetery at a later date.
