Kenneth Hilbert Burrell

Kenneth H. Burrell, 93, of La Crosse passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Bethany Riverside Care Center in La Crosse.

He was born in South Bend, Ind., on July 31, 1915, to Hilbert and Gertrude (Hummer) Burrell.

He graduated from Purdue University in 1937 with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. He was a member of the Triangle Fraternity and Sigma Xi and Tau Beta Pi honorary societies. Kenneth worked for General Electric for 40 years as a manager of product planning for General Purpose Control.

He was a resident of Bloomington, Ill., for 47 years where he served as an officer at Second Presbyterian Church and on the board of the Bloomington Public Library.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan B. Burrell; three children, Nancy (Jack) Hays, James (Kay) Burrell and Margaret (Alcee) Jumonville; grandchildren, Jack and Jenny Hays, Anne and Sarah Jumonville and Tessa Marquardt-Burrell; nieces, Emily (Ken) Nietering, Joanne Rentschler and Susan Meyer; and nephews, Nathan, Kevin and Eric Nietering and Evan and Matthew Rentschler.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eugene Burrell.

Dickinson Family Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
