Leonard J. Bierwagon

Leonard J. Bierwagon, 69, 1318 Thompson Rd., Niles, died at 10:50 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph ‚Medical Center, South Bend, following an extended illness. Born Sept. 11, 1914, in South Bend, he was a lifetime area resident.

A World War II Army veteran, he was a retired clerk for the U.S. Post Office and a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, Niles.

Surviving are three sons, Lennie B. of Fairfield, Ohio, James M. of Atlanta, Ga. and John C. of Niles; one daughter, Beverly J. Bierwagon of Niles; three brothers, Bert of Niles, John of South Bend and Ervin of South Bend; one sister, Mrs. Marie Ridens of South Bend; and six grandchildren.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mark Catholic Church, Niles, with the Rev. Donald A. Wieber of that church officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles. A rosary service will be held there at 7:30 p.m. today.
