Elizabeth Jean Rupe, 50, of 51463 Outer Drive, died at 1:38 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Hospital. She was a teacher at Muessel and Darden elementary schools. Mrs. Rupe was born Dec.15, 1924, in South Bend and lived here all her life.
On June 13, 1948, in South Bend, as Elizabeth Veach, she married John T. Rupe. He survives with a daughter, Marilyn Grant of Jeffersonville, Ind.; two sons, William D. of Mexico and Brian P. of Brookston, Ind.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Cogburn of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mary Kathryn Fitzgerald of Hamden, Conn.; and a brother, Charles D. Veach of South Bend. A sister, Freda Smith, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church, and burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St.
Mrs. Rupe was a member of the church, the Audubon Society and a graduate of Bethel College. She received a master's degree in elementary education from Indiana University at South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Scholarship Fund of First Baptist Church
