Patricia R. Smanda

Miss Patricia R. Smanda, 58, of E. Ewing, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the director of purchasing at Saint Mary's College for 20 years. Born on Dec. 31, 1924, in South Bend, she was a lifelong area resident.

Surviving are three sisters, Sister Gertrude Smanda, C.S.C., of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mrs. Arthur Regan and Mrs. Joseph M. O'Malley, both of South Bend.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today in the Kaniewski and Sons Funeral Home. 

She was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Medical Center's Central Renal Fund
