James E. McIntyre

James E. "Jim" McIntyre, 74, of Miller Road, South Bend, Ind., died on Thursday evening after a brief illness. Jim was born on Aug.2, 1925, in South Bend to Harry McIntyre, Sr., and Nellie (Hicks) McIntyre.

On Sept. 19, 1964, he married Nancy J. Horn, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Kevin (Denise) Kovatch of Horn Lake, Miss.; a grandson, Bryan Kovatch of Horn Lake; a brother, Walter (Rosemary) Mcintyre of South Bend; a sister, Ruthann Mcintyre of South Bend; and by seven nieces and nephews, Vickie McIntyre, Kevin McIntyre, Kirk McIntyre, Kathy Kulczar, Ron McIntyre, Sheri Madaras, and Rick McIntyre.

He was preceded in death by a son, James B. McIntyre, and by a brother, Harry McIntyre, Jr. In 1987.

Jim retired from Gates Town & Country where he worked as a Service Representative. During World War II, he served with the United States Marine Corps. Jim was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and he had also been a member of the Corvette Club.

Funeral services for James E. McIntyre will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 22, in the Grace United Methodist Church, 3012 S. Twyckenham Drive, South Bend.

Officiating will be Rev. Hosea W. Drake. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive family and friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to Grace United Methodist Church.
