Edith M. (Bryan) Dunn

Edith Mae Dunn, 77, residing in Edwardsburg, Michigan, formerly of South Bend, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002, in Hospice House, South Bend, following a lengthy illness. She was born January 4, 1925, in South Bend to the late Lawrence R. & Nellie (Sater) Bryan. She lived in South Bend for 55 years. She and her husband have resided in Edwardsburg the past 20 years, and have wintered in Surprise, Arizona for many years.
On September 22, 1944, in South Bend in Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, she married Richard Lee Dunn who survives. She is also survived by two daughters, Linda (Dale) Thacker of Eufalia, OK, Sandra Cortier of South Bend; and by two sons, Kevin Dunn of Trinadad, CO, and Jeffrey Dunn of Ash Grove, MO; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Helen (Lloyd) Havens of South Bend, Maxine (James) Mills of Niles, MI., and Doris (Ted) Abbott of Ocala, Fla., and a brother, Donald Bryan of South Bend.
Edith was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence LeRoy Bryan on December 7, 1997. She was a graduate of Central High School of South Bend, class of 1943. She retired in 1980 from the former Indiana Bell Telephone Company as Assistant manager following 35 years of service. She was a member of the Pioneers of America, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #435, South Bend, and Simonton Lake Baptist Church where she also sang in the choir.
Edith enjoyed her retirement spending winters at her home in Arizona, traveling in their motor home, visiting her children and grandchildren in various parts of the country. She loved sewing and crafts, and was a terrific cook, and was famous for her fantastic pies.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2002, in Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Donald Weiss, former pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. The family will receive friends from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2, in Palmer Funeral Home.
She will be greatly missed by friends and family. Our heartfelt thanks to a special friend and neighbor Bobby Collings of Edwardsburg and to the nurses at Hospice House of St. Joseph County and the cardiac floor. at Memorial Hospital. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, all contributions in memory of Edith Dunn be offered to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637
