Robert J.“Bob” Pawlak, 77, formerly of South Bend and of Punta Gorda, Florida, passed away June 26, 2006, in Charlotte Regional Medical Center, Punta Gorda, Florida. Bob was born Feb.18, 1929, in South Bend, to the late Walter and Anastasia (Nettie) Pawlak.

On Feb.18, 1950, he married Juanita (Koehler) Pawlak.

After 36 years of service to the Post Office, Bob retired and he and Juanita moved to Punta Gorda, Florida, where they enjoyed more than 20 years of their dream life, sailing, camping and traveling across the U.S.and Canada to visit their children and grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Nettie Pawlak, and by his only brother, Walter Jr.

Bob’s surviving family includes his wife of 56 years, Juanita of Punta Gorda, Florida; a son, Jim (Judy), Capitan, New Mexico; daughters, Vickie Bartizal, Somerset, New Jersey, Rosemary (Tom) Megee, Cochrane, Alberta, Canada, and Jean (Kolin) Hodgson, South Bend. Bob is also survived by eight grandchildren, Charlotte and Simon Pawlak, Christopher and Angela Bartizal, Sarah and Jared Megee, and Benjamin and Amelia Hodgson.

A memorial service will be held at Riverview Cemetery, 2300 Portage Ave., South Bend, on Monday, August 7, at 11:00 A.M. Memorial contributions in Bob’s name may be made to any local hospice and palliative care organization
