Berton N. Oppenheim
April 11, 1929 - June 25, 2018
San Ramon, CA - Berton N. Oppenheim of San Ramon, CA and Danville, CA, a former longtime resident of Los Altos Hills, CA passed on July 25th, 2018 after a short illness. He was 89. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Bert was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Cynthia, as well as his father Willard, mother Celia (Crost), brothers Gene and Lawrence, and sister Ethel (Cahn).
Bert leaves behind his daughters, Amy (Mark) Seaman of Danville, and Julie (Tim) Wilcox of Oceanside, and his beloved grandchildren Kayla and Jenna (Seaman) and Parry and Trevor (Wilcox).
Born in South Bend, IN, Bert studied Electrical Engineering at Purdue University after he completed his four years of enlisted service in the U.S. Air Force, where he was an educator and pilot. His personable nature, strong clear voice, quick wit and business savvy afforded him the ability to establish and grow a successful Electronics Representative Company as well as developing and manufacturing semiconductor-related process equipment. In later years, inspired by a family reunion, Bert became intrigued in family genealogy and after years of research, he completed a book titled The Oppenheim Family History compiling family information spanning from 1750-1995 and connecting with many new family members. This is a gift and legacy we will always treasure.
Bert enjoyed time with his cherished family, adored pets and great friends. A lover of milkshakes, good food and travel, he was also an avid tennis and golf player and dedicated sports fan. He was a force to contend with in poker, enjoyed most card games, and was a great joke teller. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Following his wishes, no services are planned.
