Frank C. McNaughton
Oct. 22, 1926 – Sept. 2, 2006
Frank C. McNaughton, 79, a lifelong resident of South Bend, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2006, in Hospice House where he had been admitted on Wednesday, August 30.
Mr.McNaughton was born October 22, 1926, in South Bend, as the son of John and Minnie (Yoder) McNaughton, and was a graduate of Central High School. He joined the United States Navy during WWII and proudly served his country from 1942-1946 and from 1948-1950.
On December 31, 1948, in Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, South Bend, he married Ruth M.Gibbs. His loving wife Ruth of nearly 58 years survives him. Also surviving are a son, Frank C. McNaughton of Macon GA, who is an Air Force contractor;his daughter-in-law, Jane L.McNaughton, who is a counselor of the Georgia Department of Labor; a granddaughter, Karen Cottam of Utah;and three great-grand- daughters. A sister, Marjorie Bradfield of Westminster, MD, and a brother, Thomas (Evelyn) McNaughton of Largo, FL, and a sister-in-law, Lois McNaughton of Fort Wayne, IN, survive as well.
A sister, Mildred Jackson, and a brother, John McNaughton, preceded Frank in death.
Frank retired as a sheet metal worker from Uniroyal Corp., Mishawaka. He also was employed with H&R Block for more than 20 years as a tax preparer, and was night custodian at the South Bend Masonic Temple for several years. He was a 50-year member of St.Joseph Lodge #45, F.&AM, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, and received the Meritorious Service Award.He bowled with the Scottish Rite Blue Team for many years, and was a volunteer at the Football Hall of Fame where he received the Volunteer of the Year Award.
Memorial services will be conducted at 5:30 p.m.Wednesday, September 6, 2006, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, where members of St.Joseph Lodge #45, F.&AM, will conduct a Masonic memorial service. Rev.Ed Erskin will officiate at the service.The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Wednesday in the funeral home.Cremation will occur with burial to follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials for Frank C.McNaughton be made to The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637
