Helen (Hanyzewski) Coddens

Helen (Hanyzewski) Coddens, 93, of North Liberty, Indiana passed away at home on Monday, August 29, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born on November 15, 1928 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Louis and Anna (Bancer) Hanyzewski. On November 23, 1961 she married Emiel Coddens who preceded her in death on October 4, 2009. Helen is survived by two daughters, Karen (Kenneth) Plencner of North Liberty, Indiana, Diane Lawson of North Liberty, Indiana, two sons, James (Patricia) Coddens of Buford, Georgia, Rene Coddens of Mishawaka, Indiana, four grandchildren and one sister Anna Schilens of Mesa, Arizona.

She was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Rebecca, three sisters, Sophie Clemens, Mary Monroe and Lucile McCuen, eight brothers, Jay Bancer, Chester Strykul, Samuel Strykul, John Strykul, Daniel Strykul, Joseph Strykul, Julius Hanyzewski and Edward Hanyzewski.

Helen was a farmer’s wife and homemaker. She enjoyed flower gardening and loved to read. But most of all, she was a very supportive, caring, giving, and loving mom and grandma who is dearly loved and greatly missed.
