SOUTH BEND - On Saturday, November 28, 2015, Dale Owen Grayson, a retired podiatrist, dedicated family and community member, passed away following an extended illness. He was born September 11, 1929 in South Bend, Indiana to the late George and Nellie Grayson.

He was educated in the South Bend Community School Corporation, graduating from Central High School in 1947. He attended Fisk University and graduated with a doctorate degree in podiatric medicine from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois.

A veteran of the United States Army, he served as a surgical orderly at Fort George Meade. Following his military service, he opened his podiatric practice in South Bend, with a satellite location in Plymouth. He ultimately relocated full time to Plymouth, where he practiced until his retirement. He served in membership and leadership capacities in many organizations, including Kiwanis, American Lung Association , Urban League and the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of Olivet AME Church, where he served as an usher and sang in the Men's Chorus.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Yolande E. Grayson, brothers, Billie, Arthur (Ollie) and George (Charlotte), and sisters, Irma (Henry) Dishroom and Mary (William) Jackson. He is survived by his sons, Meredith Grayson of Omaha, Nebraska, and Philip Grayson of Upper Arlington, Ohio; granddaughters, Kai Grayson and Clarke Grayson of Altadena, California; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
