Walter Wegenka Jr., 47. of 19959 Brick Rd., died at 8 a.m. today in his home after an -extended illness.

Mr. Wegenka was a driver for the Sunnyside Beverage Co. Born July 23, 1927, in South Bend, he had lived here his lifetime.

On June 17. 1950, in South Bend. he married Patricia (Williams) Stone, who survives. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Walter Wegenka Sr. of South Bend; a son. James, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Catherine Blevins of Anderson, Joan, Ellen and Amy, all at home; four brothers, Robert of Rochester, N. Y., Chester of Findley, Ohio, Daniel of Watervliet and Frank of South Bend, and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Jane Fowler of Brewster, N.Y., Mrs. Patricia Laskowski and Rita Csenar, both of South Bend.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Welsheimer North Chapel, 52803 U.S. 31 N. Services, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Christ the King Catholic Church. Rev. Martin Rini, C.S.C., of the Christ the King church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Mr. Wegenka was a member of Izaak Walton League, the Holy Name Society of the church, Lodge 58, Loyal Order of Moose, and the St. Joseph County Horse and Pony Club. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
