Lillian A. Sherwood (93 ¾) of Plymouth, IN passed away November 21, 2022. She was born on Dec 22, 1928 to Julius A. Takacs and Mary (Kerekes) Takacs in South Bend, IN. Lillian married Neil Walter Sherwood May 31,1953. From their union they have Susan (Kevin) Huff of Plymouth, IN, Nancy S. Coney (Allen Price) of South Bend, IN and James W. Sherwood of Texas. Beloved Grandchildren: Cathy (Michael) Wraight of Plymouth IN, Elizabeth Coney (Chad Czarnecki) of South Bend, Rachel Coney & Allison Coney of Indianapolis, IN, and Daniel Sherwood of Texas. Along with 9 Great Grandchildren: Landrie Mattern, Natalee Bragg, Carson Czarnecki, Emmett, Wyatt and Harriet Wraight, Duane, Raelynn, and Zachary Sherwood. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Peg Takacs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Neil, sister Louise Rzeszewski brother-in-law Lenny Rzeszewski, and brothers Jack and Julius Takacs.

Lillian graduated from Central High School in South Bend, IN and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics at Indiana University, Bloomington in 1951. Her Career includes: Laboratory Technician, Lobund Institute, Notre Dame; substitute teacher, Plymouth IN Schools,

Always a sponge for knowledge she worked for the Plymouth (Indiana) Public Library from 1973-1994. Lillian was listed as a noteworthy librarian by Marquis Who's Who. She was Project director for Indiana Heritage research grant, Indiana Humanities Council and Indiana History Society, as well as part of the Organization and Verification Committee Genealogical Socs., and Pioneer Society, Marshall County, Indiana since 1988

Lillian was a member of American Association of University Women and Marshall County Genealogical Society, and Omicron Nu. She was also a member at Trinity United Methodist Church Plymouth, IN

Lillian enjoyed many things in life IU Basketball, puzzles, traveling far and wide for her genealogy research, gardening, listening to classical music, playing bridge, and spending time with her friends and family. She also had a love/hate relationship with Flamingos that her children and grandchildren would gift her. Her sense of humor will definitely be missed.
Lillian generously donated her body for research and education to the IU Medical School as a loyal Alumni.

Services will be held 10 am Tuesday December 27th at Trinity United Methodist Church Plymouth, Indiana
