Dorothy M. (Stoops) Lucas

Feb. 26, 1927 - July 8, 1977

Dorothy M. Lucas, 70, residing on U.S. 31 South, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, in St. Joseph Medical Center. Mrs. Lucas was born on February 26, 1927, in Hymera, Ind., to the late Jasper Perry and Jessie Mae (Tribble) Stoops, and had lived in the South Bend area all of her life.

On August 23, 1946, in South Bend, she was married to Russell Miller, Jr., who preceded her in death on October 17, 1973. Mrs. Lucas was also preceded in death by a son, Russell P. Miller in 1967.

In May 1983 she married Elmer C. "Skid" Lucas, who survives. She is also survived by two sons and their wives, Donald and Jean Miller of Lake Mills, Wisc., and Robert and Marion Miller of Piedmont, Okla.; four grandchildren; and by two brothers, Perry Stoops of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Max Stoops of Dowagiac, Mich.

She was a Gold Star Mother; was a member of the Mothers Marines; the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post 360, Mishawaka; was an honorary member of the Memorial Day Society; and of the Marine Corps Auxiliary. Services for Mrs.

Lucas will be at 11 a.m. on Friday in the HollisOrvis-Palmer Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's memory to the charity of donor's choice
