ROYER - Services for Dale E. Royer, 47. of Austin, Texas, formerly, of South Bend. were conducted Wednesday at the Hillcrest Baptist Church imo Austin, with Rev. Kenneth Morgan, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Teck Cemetery, Austin. The Cook-Walden Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Royer, died Sunday of a heart attack while working with journalism students at Memorial Stadium, Austin. was born on June 13, 1928, in St. Joseph County.

He was employed as a printer by The Tribune, then was owner and publisher of the Commercial Record. a weekly newspaper in Saugatuck, Mich.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Billie K. Rover; three sons, Dale E. II of Houston, Craig M. of Austin and Kim, stationed with the Navy at Norfolk, Va.: a daughter, Anne: Royer of Austin; a grandchild; his father. Mahlon Royer of South Bend; two brothers, Gene and Miles, both of Florida, and a sister. Mrs. Janet Ashley of South Bend.

Royer was employed at the time of his death by the Bell and Howell Corp. of Austin. Because of his work with high school students, the Dale E. Royer Athletic Award is made annually in Saugatuck
