Lorraine "Lorie" L. Kwiecinski Wroblewski

SOUTH BEND -- Lorie L. Wroblewski, 77, died at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2007, in her home, following a battle with Leukemia.

She was born on February 19, 1929, to the late Martin and Alice (Kaczmarek) Kwiecinski in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Mark Joseph Wroblewski on October 21, 1960; three sisters, Margaret "Marge" Kwiecinski; Christine Banicki; Zenobia Krych; and two brothers, Lawrence and Edward Kwiecinski.

After graduating from Central High School in May of 1946, Lorie was employed by the Ridge Auto Parts Company. Leaving there in 1948, she worked at the former Studebaker Corporation. In 1961, she worked at Mercedes-Benz Corporation as secretary to the vice president of service. In 1965, she worked in the admissions office at St. Joseph Medical Center in South Bend. In 1968, she worked at the former Indiana Club as a receptionist for two years, leaving there to work as a private secretary for John R. Lonergan. In October of 1982, she worked as administrative aide at the Social Security Administration District Office in South Bend until 1994.

After retiring from the Social Security Administration, she began teaching country line dancing. In 1995 she was very happy to have the privilege of working as the wedding coordinator at the Basilica of The Sacred Heart, Notre Dame. Another part time position she held was a funeral attendant at Kaniewski Funeral Home, beginning there in 1996. In 1997 Lorie began teaching country line dancing for the Brandywine Enrichment program in Niles, which was sponsored by Southwestern Michigan College. She also taught line dancing at the New Carlisle United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Wroblewski was a member of Sacred Heart Parish at Notre Dame. In 1982, she became chairperson of the Widowed to Widowed Organization, which is sponsored by the Mental Health Association of St. Joseph County. She held that position for 12 years. She received many awards for her work there throughout the years, even the prestigious E. Blair Warner Award. She then began teaching country line dancing to its members, and taught country line dancing for Leighton Center members and for the Honor Role members of Teachers Credit Union as well. She also taught typing classes at the Forever Learning Institute.

On August 8, 1953, as Lorie L. Kwiecinski, she married Ervin E. Wroblewski in South Bend, IN. He died on November 19, 1980.

She is survived by two daughters, Janine (Lyle) Smith of Three Rivers, MI; Mary Catherine (Brent) Heffner of Edwardsburg, MI; four sons, Tim Wroblewski of Indianapolis, IN; Dennis (Roxanne) Wroblewski of Winnona Lake, IN; Edward (Linda) Wroblewski of New Castle, IN; Lawrence (Karen) Wroblewski of LaPorte, IN; seven grandchildren, Rebecca, Nathan, and Andrew Heffner; Tristan and Kallen Wroblewski; Jonathan Sanchez; Joshua Hennessy; two sisters, Delores "Dolly" Kwiecinski of South Bend, IN; Arlene (Clarence) Spitz of South Bend, IN; and two brothers, Marvin (Mary Ann) Kwiecinski of South Bend, IN; and Ronald (Barbara) Kwiecinski of South Bend, IN.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2007, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, and one hour before funeral services on Monday, February 5, 2007, in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2007, in the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2007, in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, University of Notre Dame, with Rev. Wilson D. Miscamble, C.S.C. officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
