SOUTH BEND - Patrick F. Deneen passed away peacefully November 14th, 2013 due to complications from a stroke. Mr. Deneen was born June 10th, 1928, in South Bend, IN, to the late Irene (Hildebrand) and Frank Deneen.

He was recently preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Sharon Kremp Deneen.

He is survived by daughters, Jeri (Jon Powell) Deneen of San Diego, California, and Jennifer Deneen of South Bend; sons, Michael (Nancy) Deneen of South Bend, Timothy (Patti Posey) Deneen of Wichita, Kansas, Kevin (Nancy) Deneen of South Bend and Brian Deneen of Mishawaka; thirteen grandchildren, Amy (Matthew) Porter, Laura (Neal) Smith, Chris Deneen, Shea Powell, Kylie Deneen, Cortney Deneen, Brittany Deneen, Austin Deneen, Krystin Deneen, Jen Deneen, Jacklyn (Nick) Sommers, Kim Miller and Cole Deneen; and five great-grandchildren, Ashley and Andrew Porter, Tyler and Brooklyn Smith, Sadie and Hudson Swain.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Jo Laughlin, formerly of South Bend, IN.

Pat was a graduate of South Bend Central High School and received a degree from Indiana University where he was instrumental in the design and construction of the bridge across the Jordan River. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Upon graduation, Pat joined his family's business, Deneen Corporation. He later founded Michiana Business Forms, retiring in 1999. Pat was a longtime member of South Bend Jaycees, serving as president from 1958 to 1959. Through the organization Pat was instrumental in the development of Story Land Zoo. Pat also contributed countless volunteer hours at the Center for History.

He was an avid golfer and fisherman and shared his passion of the outdoors with his sons through the Indian Guides and Boy Scouts programs. Summer months spent at Lake Michigan were a favorite family time. He also loved attending all his children's and grandchildren's activities and sporting events. Pat was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was and always will be an inspiration to all of his family. We are truly blessed and amazingly lucky to have had such a wonderful man in our lives. Pat's sense of humor and wit will be dearly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19th, at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 2120 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, with Rev. David Rupert officiating. Cremation has taken place at Welsheimer Crematory. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday, November 18th, at the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd., South Bend, IN.
