Melvin C. Troeger

Services for Melvin Troeger, 68, of 1625 Southwood Drive, who died at 6:30 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, after a lengthy illness, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel at the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home. Rev. Michael Coyner, pastor of Evangel Heights United Methodist Church, South Bend, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
He was born on Aug. 28, 1914, in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident of this area. He was employed as a mechanic at Gates Town and Country Chevrolet for 40 years.
On Nov. 1, 1941, in South Bend, he married June A. Walters. She died on Sept. 16.
Survivors include a son, Gregory Chris Troeger, with whom he lived; a grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Earl (Mildred) Eagle and Mrs. R Robert (Carmen) Mitchell, both of South Bend, and Mrs. Gladys McCleland of Rolling Prairie; and a brother, Richard Troeger of South Bend.
He was a veteran of World War II.
