Jerry Frederick Earles, 61, of 1010 N. Twyckenham, was found dead lying in the drive of his home about 7:30 way p.m. Wednesday after suffering an apparent heart attack while shoveling snow. Earles was a journeyman painter for Miles Laboratories, Inc., Elkhart.

Born on Nov. 27, 1914, in Angola, La., he had lived here 49 years, coming from New Orleans.

On Nov. 25, 1935, in South Bend, he married Gladys Mayberry, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Gerald F. of Los Angeles, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Jerrie Marie Harris and Mrs. Juanita J. Pearson, both of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Mary E. McGruder of Chicago; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Coto of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mrs. Mercedes Wilks of South Bend, and a brother, Fletcher of Elkhart.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Grace A.M.E. Zion Church. Rev. George A. Stewart, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in Clark's Funeral Chapel.
