Donald W. Hendrickson

Donald W. Hendrickson, 63, of 52423 Portage, died at 8 a.m. Wednesday in DePaul Hospital, Norfolk, Va. Hendrickson had been visiting his daughter, Mrs. Susan Hill of Virginia Beach, Va.

He was born July 14, 1913, in Rochester, Ind., and had lived here. most of his life. He was a former New York Yankee baseball player and retired in 1971 from Don's Bar, where he was a bartender.

His wife, Corrine, whom he married on Jan. 2, 1942, in South Bend, died in 1966.

Surviving besides Mrs. Hill are a daughter, Mrs. Karen Trapp Stone Mountain, Ga.; a son, Craig of South Bend; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Marcia Cooper of South Bend and Mrs. Mary Lee of La Porte, and two brothers, Fred of Lawrence, Mich., and Troy of South Bend.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Hollis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., with Rev. A.D. Rehrig, pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Henrickson was a member of the Old Time Ball Players Association.
