The body of Sgt. John P. Hartman, formerly of South Bend, who was killed. in a. plane crash May 28, 1944, in England, will be returned to Chicago for memoral services there. His body will be taken to the Matz funeral home, Chicago for memoral services from there. Burial will be in Concordia cemetery, Forest Park, Ill.

Surviving are his father, Sgt Clyde T Hartman of South Bend; four brothers, Norman, Roland and Thomas, all of South Bend; Lester, of Niles. Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Paul Warstler and Mrs. Emmett Snyder, both of South Bend, and Mrs. Willis Grove, of Park Ridge, Ill.

Sgt. John P. Hartman, son of Clyde T. Hartman, 1213 South High street, whose death in England was recently reported, died a hero, according to word just received by his father from the war department. Sgt. Hartman, member of a ground crew with the United States army air corps, based in England, was killed when a bomb exploded in an airplane while he was attempting to rescue a member of the crew of the crashed bomber.
