Margaret (Tatay) Van Paris
April 3, 1916 – Jan.5, 2013
SOUTH BEND — Margaret Van Paris, 96, of South Bend, passed away during the early morning hours of January 5, 2013. Margaret was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on April 3, 1916, to the late Rudolph and Mary (Horvath) Tatay.
On April 6, 1940, in the St. Stephen’s Church in South Bend, she married Frank Van Paris, who preceded her in death on June 4, 2000.
Margaret worked as office manager at Swanson Builders for many years. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Her two daughters survive Margaret: Sandra K. (Bernie) Gorski of Granger and Marsha A. McKay of Mishawaka. She was a grandmother of three: Mark (Elaine) Gorski, Thomas (Debbie) Gorski and Brenda (Rick) Torres; and a great-grandmother of nine: Steven, Kristen, Matthew, Austin, Anthony, Alyssa, Hilary and Emma.
Margaret was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Goodman, and two brothers, Louis and William Tatay.
Friends will be received from 9:45 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 9th, in the St. Pius X Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 with Msgr. William Schooler officiating the services. Burial is to follow at the Highland Cemetery in South Bend.
Memorial contributions may be made in Margaret’s name to the Hospice Foundation, 4220 Edison Lakes Parkway, Suite 210, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545. Bubb Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Margaret's family wishes to extend a thank you to the staff at Wedgewood Pines for the loving care that they showed during her time there.
