SOUTH BEND - Stanley J. Stemnock, 78, of Lilac Road, died at 5:10 p.m. Monday in Memorial Hospital after an illness.

Stemnock retired in 1970 from Bendix Corp. as a layout inspector in the Energy Controls Division. He was born Feb. 26, 1915, in Footdale, Pa., and lived in South Bend most of his life.

On Nov. 23, 1946, in South Bend, he married Lorraine E. Cunningham. She survives, with three brothers, John of Mesa, Ariz., Francis of Fort Wayne, and Louis of Indianapolis.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, South Bend Art Center, Michiana Arts and Science Council, Viking Club, M.R. Falcons Nest 4, University Club of Notre Dame, and a veteran of World War II.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place. There will be no visitation. Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the church
