Elizabeth Louise “Betty” Schermerhorn Furner

BUCHANAN - Elizabeth "Betty" Furner, 95, died of natural causes at 2:47 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2011, in Niles. She was born Oct. 25, 1915, in Scotts, MI, to the late Clarence and Jean Schermerhorn.
On June 10, 1936, in South Bend, she married Richard James Furner, who also preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1983. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons, Thomas C. (Carole) Furner of Buchanan, James R. (Sandy) Furner of Locust Grove, VA, Michael J. (Gayla) Furner of Niles and Patrick A. (Pauline) Furner of Berrien Springs; daughters, Elizabth J. (Hub) Hesseltine of Niles and Mary E. (Pierre) Weber of Jacksonville, FL.; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Rev. Thomas P. King, C.S.C., of St. Mark Catholic Church, Niles, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Hoven Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice at Home, Inc., 4017 Chamberlain Road, Buchanan, MI 49107.
