Ruby Irene (Samuels) Vining

March 20, 1915 - Dec. 6, 1996

Ruby Irene Vining, 81 years old, residing at the Meridian Nursing Center, Cardinal, South Bend, passed away at 11:50 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 1996, at the St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, of natural causes. Ruby was formerly employed as a Tupperware manager for 28 years in the South Bend area.

She was born on March-20, 1915, in Brooklyn, Ind. and had resided in this area since 1926, coming from Indianapolis.

On Oct. 14, 1937, in Etna Green, Ind., as Ruby Irene Samuels, she married Glenn M. Vining who preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1988. Surviving are a son, Robert Vining, two granddaughters; one great-grandson; two sisters, Mildred Carpenter of South Bend and Helen Rasmussen of Watsonville, Calif.; and two brothers, Fred Samuels of Mishawaka and Robert Samuels of Rohnert, Calif.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka, Ave., South Bend. There will be no visitation. Rev. Warren Ranks, pastor of the Gospel Center Missionary Church, will officiate.

Burial will be at a later date in the Etna Township Cemetery, Etna Green. Ruby was a member of the Gospel Center Missionary Church where memorial contributions may be given in her memory.
