George William Roper, born in South Bend, Ind., on Nov. 26, 1916, passed away Friday, June 21. George and his wife, Tomma, moved to Seguin 1982. Serving his fellow man and community was a priority to George and enriched his life. For a number of years he drove cancer patients to San Antonio for treatment.

He served as an elder in the First Presbyterian Church in Seguin, as vice president of the Seguin Noon Lions Club, as a member of the Masonic Lodge and as an active member of the American Legion. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Seguin with the Rev. Dr. Carl McCauley officiating. The service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 25.

He is survived by his wife, Tomma, daughters, Peggy Roper, Nancy Roper-Foo and her husband Edward, Betty Duncan and her husband Jerry, son-in-law Doug Mohlke, seven grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Lions Crippled Children's Camp in Kerrville, or the First Presbyterian Church in Seguin.
