Samuel Sturgis Lawler Jr

Samuel Sturgis Lawler, 87, passed away September 24, 2003. Born in Minneapolis, MN, he was a longtime Jacksonville resident and active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in business and the University of Florida with a pharmacy degree. As a pharmacist, he served many local customers as the owner and operator Lawler Pharmacy.

During World War II, he served in the Army Airforce as a pilot in N. Africa and Sicily and as a glider pilot, he led a mission behind German lines and was captured and held for 18 months, by the Germans, as a POW. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Josephine G. Lawler; son, Russell S. Lawler (wife, Jill); and grandson, Alexander S. Lawler.

A cryptside service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, Sept. 27th, at Oaklawn Cemetery with Fr. James Corry officiating. For those who prefer, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Catholic Church. Arrangements by HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME
