Andrew A. Kuzmitz

Andrew A. Kuzmitz, 71, of 1820 E. Madison St., died at 1 a.m. today in his home, Mr. Kuzmitz was a professional engineer with Energy Controls Division of Bendix Corp. for 38 years. Born Nov. 26, 1913, in South Bend, he was a lifetime area resident.

On May 11, 1946, in South Bend, he married Jane Brugger, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mary Jane Stanley of South Bend; two sons, Joseph of South Bend and Dr. Andrew Kuzmitz of Coos Bay, OR.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Sabo and Mary Marshall, both of South Bend; and a brother, Frank F. of South Bend. 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Catholic Church and burial will follow in Highland Cemtery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Hickey Funeral Home.

He was a member of the church, the National Management Association, Elks Lodge 235, Engineers Club of St. Joseph Valley, the St. Vincent dePaul Society of the church and the Bendix Senior Management. Club, where he served as president in 1983-84, Kuzmitz also served on the men's advisory board of the Christ Child Society, was a member of the Christian Family Movement, and was a representative at the Indiana Governor's Conference on Aging. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Christ Child Society.
