John C. Karaszewski

Feb. 24, 1914 - April 23, 1999

John C. Karaszewski, age 85, of Granger, IN, died at 4:30 p.m. Friday in his residence.

He was born February 24, 1914, in South Bend, to Julius and Estella (Piechorowski) Karaszewski. He retired in 1979 from Excel Industries in Elkhart.

On May 31, 1941, in East Chicago, Ind., he married Helen Tarasut, who survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Elaine Karaszewski of Granger; a son, Terry Karaszewski, a.k.a. Terry Karas of Mishawaka, IN; three grandchildren, Dawn Karaszewski, Kirk (Christina) Karaszewski and Kerri Karaszewski, all of South Bend; and one sister, Estella Milanowcyz of Jersey City, New Jersey.

Preceding Mr. Karaszewski in death were his parents; five brothers, Stanley, Joseph, Alex, Benjamin and Thaddeus Karaszewski; and two sisters, Jean Brunt and Phyllis Kowalski.

Family and friends may 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, with entombment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Mr. Karaszewski was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church in Elkhart.

John was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and we will miss him dearly.
