Lawrence S. "Babe" Irish

SOUTH BEND - Lawrence S. "Babe" Irish, 73, of 1308 Pyle Ave., died at 10:50 a.m. Friday, Sep 22, 1989, in his home. He had retired in 1980 after 46 years in the purchasing department of South Bend Lathe.

Born Oct. 27, 1915, in South Bend, he was a lifetime area resident. On June 29, 1940, in South Bend, he married the former Emma Fozo, who survives. Also surviving a are a daughter, Ginger Lou Irish of Bridgewater, Mass.; a grandson; a sister, Olive Rossow of South Bend; and a brother, Charles Willard Irish of Mishawaka.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive. Entombment will be at Riverview Cemetery. He was a past member of the American Society of Tool Manufacturing Engineers and a former member of South Bend Lathe Athletic Association. Memorial contributions may be made to the Redeemer Missionary Church or Hospice of St. Joseph County
