Mary A. (Horvath) Eazsol
August 23, 1916-May 20, 2014
Mary A. Eazsol, 97, of South Bend passed away peacefully at 5:47 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at her home. Mary was born August 23, 1916, in South Bend to Michael and Agnes (Fodor) Horvath.
On Jan. 14, 1934, Mary married Frank Eazsol, who preceded her in death in 1980.
Survivors include her son James Eazsol (Barbara Baptist) of Clermont, Florida; daughters Sharen (Bob) Kooyenga of La Porte and Lyn Urgonski of Niles; five grandchildren Keith (Peggy) Eazsol, Carrie (Joe) Cunningham, Michael (Kathy) Turner, Bryan (Jennifer) Urgonski and Jennifer (Christopher) Keck; eight great-grandchildren Kyle, Briann, Caleb, Jason, Kristen, Jakob, Kenny and Ryan. Surviving siblings include Irma Morrris and Louis Horvath, along with many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mary in death were her son-in-law Kenny Urgonski; daughter-in-law Marlene Eazsol; and grandsons Mark Turner and Kenny Urgonski; and nine siblings Rose Horvath, Helen Borntrager, Elizabeth Wilson, Margaret Davis, Irene Robakowski, Michael Horvath, John Horvath, Joseph Horvath and John Horvath.
Mary graduated from Central High School. She worked at Notre Dame and retired from Valley American Bank & Trust.
She enjoyed playing softball, volleyball, bowling and of course ping-pong, which she beat everyone most of the time. She also loved to play poker and rummy.
Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was very proud of her family and spent many hours playing and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
For the past 25 years, Mary sponsored a child from Central and South America through Children's International. Mary was unselfish with her love, promoting peace and love within her family and circle of friends.
Anyone who knew Mary was fortunate to have known her.
A special note of appreciation to all of Mary's caregivers Marie, Karen, Laura, Eva, Shelby, Lyn, Sharen, Jennifer, Bryan and the Center for Hospice of St. Joseph County staff. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. May 22 at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3526 St. John's Way, South Bend.
