Paul Henry Hoffman

Paul H. Hoffman, 88 years old, of South Bend, passed away at 10:50 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, in the home of his son, John, in Granger after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Hoffman was born on Jan.1, 1916, in South Bend to the late Henry and Emma (Jordon) Hoffman. He had lived most of his life in South Bend.

On July 1, 1947, in South Bend, he married the former Vera S. Shemet, who preceded in death on Jan.27, 1989.

Mr. Hoffman retired from Bendix Corporation after 34 years of employment. He was a member of the Hilltop Lutheran Church, South Bend.

Mr. Hoffman is survived by two sons, John Paul Hoffman of Granger and James Lee Hoffman of Edwardsburg, Mich.; four grandchildren, Sarah Hoffman of Grand Rapids, Mich., Belinda Obren of South Bend, Eric Hoffman of South Bend and Cindi Hoffman of South Bend; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, in the Hilltop Lutheran Church, 4114 S. Ironwood Road, South Bend. Rev. Jane Aicher, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, and one hour prior to services in the church on Tuesday.
